Can you use music to enhance your mood?

Listening to music is a powerful way to turn yourself off from the outside world, calm your mind, boost your mood and encourage productivity. Everyone is different when it comes to their musical preferences, while I prefer an eclectic mix. Here are some of my favourites, which I feel definitely hit the spot! Give them a whirl, hopefully, you will find yourself relaxed, positive or ready to get cracking, depending on which set you’ve chosen!

Music to evoke a sense of calm…

We live in an incredibly busy world, constantly multitasking, creating to-do lists and being bombarded by media from all angles. It’s important to take a proper break, give yourself time and space to relax and unwind. Many of us are out of the habit of simply “turning off”, allowing our bodies to fully relax and our minds to quieten. Try my favourite calming pieces and consider creating your own personal calming soundscape.

Prelude 2

Chevaliers De Sangreal

 Largo

Music to boost your mood…

Everyone feels a bit fed up now and again, it’s perfectly normal. When you are tired or there is no “quick fix,” financial, relationship or employment concerns can be overwhelming. We all know worrying doesn’t change anything or help. Although, for many people, “not worrying” is easier said than done! That said it’s important to think about how your mood is affecting your outlook, not when it comes to the big stuff-because I’m not minimising all concerns, but try to avoid catastrophic thinking and keep things in perspective. I love the following pieces, to me, they’re positive, mood lifting and have the “feel good” factor. Maybe make a playlist of your favourite mood-boosting tunes.

Minor Swing

Memphis Stomp

 Somewhere Over The Rainbow

Music to encourage productivity…

Let’s face it, there are times when we know there’s something to be done, we know we’ll feel better for having done it but just can’t motivate ourselves to get started. Getting started is often the hardest part, once you’ve begun often thoughts like, “I can’t believe I didn’t get this sorted earlier,” or “I’ve wasted half the day thinking about doing this and I could have had it done” may drift into your mind. It might be a good idea to choose a piece of music that motivates you, a piece that when you hear it, an association of starting a task…making the call or sorting “that” out may form. Here are a few of my favourite pieces to get a job done, create your own productive soundtrack!

Unsquare Dance

Palladio

1492 Conquest Of Paradise

I hope you’ve enjoyed listening to my favourite pieces of music to encourage calm, positivity and productivity. Music is a game changer when it comes to mood. Maybe think about how you could utilise music in your life.
